You don't have much time for marketing so I'll make this quick...

In this week's Rule of Three newsletter:

  • Luke Kemeys from Next Advisory: consistency is the key to marketing
  • Before & After: simplify your prose
  • Start | Stop | Keep - Allan Dib from Successwise/The 1-Page Marketing Plan

Peer review: Luke Kemeys from Next Advisory - consistency is the key to marketing

Luke Kemeys from Next Advisory in Auckland shared several tips which I think are crucial to sustained marketing success.

His main tip is "be consistent". His analogy is view marketing as a long-term investment. I love this and have talked before about the compounding effect of marketing: small efforts done consistently amount to big wins over time,

Luke shared a personal success story of winning a client after staying in touch for two years through consistent marketing.

His other recommendations:

  • Market to existing clients (most firms don't)
  • Build a positive online presence. This helps:
    • Strengthen the accounting profession and it's key role in the economy
    • Attract talent to your firm in what is currently a tight job market

Some solid advice in video. Well worth five minutes of your time.

Before and After: simplify your prose

So much of modern business communication is written.

Simplify your prose to become a more effective writer.

I did a before and after on a ChatGPT email, reducing it from 349 words to 64!

Start | Stop | Keep - Allan Dib, Successwise/The 1-Page Marketing Plan

I asked Allan Dib, founder of Successwise and author of the best-selling book The 1-Page Marketing Plan, what would you like your accountant to start, stop and keep doing? Here's the recording of what he told me and a summary of his answers is below.

Start: Allan wants his accountant to be more proactive (heard that before?!) and set up planning meetings with him to discuss growth opportunities.

Stop: He'd like his accountant to not be strictly compliance-focused and look at the bigger picture of building wealth.

Keep: He feels supported by his accountant and that he's on his side. He values knowing he's compliant and the supportive and collaborative attitude.

That’s all for this week,

To your marketing success!

Matt
